I've been so busy this month, getting ready for festival season, carving my biggest block prints ever, and overhauling my product packaging to include a custom mat board with every purchase! I hope you love the news coming out of my studio this month :)

You know that giant space above your couch? What about that prominent wall in your dining room? I've been dreaming of creating large statement pieces that will bring those places to life, and this spring, I created the first of many pieces designed to fill those special spots in your home.
"The Heron Pool" (shown above) measures 23 inches wide by 17 inches tall, and comes with a custom cut acid free matboard that fits in a standard 22x28 inch frame. I pull each of these prints by hand (without the use of a press) and it has definitely been a massive undertaking, however, I absolutely love the result. I'm starting with a limited edition of 40 black and white prints, and I also have blue artist proofs available as well. As with all of my
prints, less than 100 imprints (including all editions and artist proofs) will be sold from this carved block. Shop this print.
I've officially finished pulling prints from my "Red Fox" block. I'm all stocked up for now on both the color and black and white editions, but once these sell out I won't be making more, so pick up this little mini-print today!

We have some new arrivals in the forest this month. Three baby red shouldered hawk chicks are being raised just down the road from me, and I've been going almost every day to look at them. These are woodland hawks, often living in bottomland hardwood forests, and close to swamps, rivers, and ponds. I've
been dreaming of illustrating these beautiful hawks for a few years now, and I was thrilled my husband was able to take some great photos I can use as a reference for my future printmaking endeavors.

Festival for the Eno- July 3rd-4th. I am so excited to be juried into this festival, particularly because I'm a frequent user of some of the 7,400 acres of park that this organization has helped to preserve. Now that I am fully vaccinated, I'll be participating in a handful of festivals and art shows this summer, and I'll work hard to maintain a safe environment inside my booth. Tickets go on sale in late May, so support a great cause and come and see me! Click here for info about this event.

I'm really excited to announce a big change to the way I prepare my prints for purchase and display. From now on, all New South Prints will come with a custom cut, conservation quality matboard, and acid free backing board. I've been doing this already with my mini prints, and I love that all my customers have to do is take the print out of its compostable sleeve and fit it into a standard size frame. It cuts down on waste, because all of the materials inside
the sleeve are reused in the framing process, and it also saves customers money and time, since custom framing, while beautiful, can also be very expensive, and not accessible to everyone.
I put a lot of thought into the materials that I use for my block prints, and the matboards I use are professionally cut in Georgia, are shipped to me without the use of plastic (yay!) and-- most importantly-- are acid free, meaning they won't damage your artwork over time. Head over to my website to see my simplified pricing
that reflects these new changes!

Can't make it to the festival for the Eno? You can still support their conservation efforts by bidding on items in their silent auction and raffle, including a piece that I'm donating. Check on their website in late May or early July for more details.
Have some great wildlife photos? I'm looking for reference photos of the following creatures: Cicadas, Catfish, Possums, and Green Herons. Side views and symmetrical shots are the best. If I end up using a photo of yours in my printmaking, I'll send you one of the prints in the edition for free :)
That's why I want my all of you to use the code FREESHIPNEWSOUTH at checkout for free shipping on all prints. Thanks for supporting my work!
