History can be hard. As an artist, I feel endlessly inspired by the place I live. I love the woods, plants, animals, and vibrancy of the Southeastern US deeply, but I also recognize that our history is marred by violence, racism, and oppression. I believe in our ability to overcome our divisions, but to do so we must understand our past. Here in North Carolina, our teachers are working hard to educate the next generation of citizens,
and I am in awe of their dedication, brilliance, and devotion to our young people. For the next month (January 18th--February18th) I'll be donating 10% of my sales to the "Teaching Hard History" initiative by Carolina K-12 from UNC Chapel Hill's Carolina Public Humanities, to better fund our teachers as they guide our young people through difficult and important conversations so vital to our society.
