I am so incredibly proud to share my print release this month. This "Sunrise Edition" of my giant Red Wolf Block Print is the hardest ink-work I've ever attempted. 

We've also got a full slate of upcoming shows, including Love Durham day at the Durham Craft Market this weekend.  Read on to find out more. 

Finally, I'll nerd out on y'all about my recent trip to the NC coast, and the gorgeous wildlife I saw at while at the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll shores.

For the past year, I've been on a mission to spread the word about Red Wolf Conservation, while also growing my printmaking skills via my "Red Wolf at Alligator River" piece. With each edition I do, I attempt increasingly difficult ink work.  My goal has always been to be able to do the tricky and colorful ink work that I'm known for, but at the largest scale that Shirley (my press) can handle. 

This 3rd edition features my favorite "puzzle piece" printmaking technique, as well as some gradient work on the background sun. I am incredibly proud I was able to pull this off. I have 7 of these in stock, and plan to make 17 prints total in this edition. 

If you'd like to preorder, here are the details:

$550- 24x36 inch print only, no matboard.

$650- Print+ Custom Acid Free matboard.  This matboard will fit into a standard 28x40 frame. 

Email me if you'd like to reserve one. I'll reserve prints in the order that folks email me. 

Here's a reminder of this piece by the numbers: 

• 24x36- These are the dimensions of the finished piece. It's the largest block of linoleum I've ever carved!
• 17- This is the number of prints that will be part of each edition. It's inspired by the number of known red wolves currently living in the wild. 
• 5- This is the number of editions I plan to make from this carving.  It represents the number of Red Wolves killed by vehicles in approximately the past year. Each edition will have a different colorway, and each will consist of 17 prints total. 
• 20- this is the number of hours I spent simply sketching the design for this massive print. (I didn't track the carving time-- but it took about a week.) 
• 20%- This is the percentage of each sale I will donate to red wolf conservation.

For Spring Break 2025, we took our kids to the NC coast on a mission to see wildlife, escape the pollen in the triangle, and track as much sand as possible into our minivan.

We visited the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, which absolutely blew me out of the water. I took so many photos to use as reference for future block prints, and I've shared a few of my favorites below.

This is the otter that waved at my son, Ben. 

I didn't believe Ben at first when he told me "Mommy! I waved at the otter and he waved back at me!"  but I was filming at the time, and when I looked back he was right and I caught it all on video!

The volunteer who was at the Sea Turtle Exhibit was so knowledgable. She spent lots of time with our family telling us about the different species of Sea Turtles here in NC, and about the field work coastal residents do to protect turtle nesting sites. It was so inspiring to think of all the coastal folks who have built Sea Turtle conversation work into their lives.

One of the things I was reminded of on this visit was exactly how beautiful our native fish species are. I grew up fishing, and spending a lot of time on lakes and rivers, and I think it's time I incorporated some more fish into my block print designs again.
