the sunshine and flowers as much as I am. I'm trying to do some spring cleaning in the studio, to make way for all the new blocks I want to carve this year! What's New: Eastern Bluebird Mini Print |
This time of year, the bright flashes of the bluebirds flying through my yard are such a treat. This mini print features a male eastern bluebird perched amidst a tangle of
muscadine vines. I'm really loving how the vibrancy of the blue came out in this piece. I've got about 15 of these flashy birds in stock, and I plan to make 90 of them total. I'm giving my email subscribers the first chance to buy these prints before I make them available for sale to the general public (on Saturday, April 1st.) I've been getting requests for more carving videos, so this month I tried to include some of that process for y'all. This substrate that I'm carving in this video is a professional printmaking block called "Soft Kut." It's the softest of the materials that I work with, which can make it a challenge to hold fine lines and details in the print. However, I like it the best for puzzle piece printmaking
because you can sort of "wiggle" the inked pieces together, and they aren't as brittle as traditional lino. Enjoy! Thanks for holding me up! It feels amazing to be supported by a community of folks who value orginal artwork and the people behind them. I am grateful for you. -Katie |
