Welcome to 2023! I'm so excited because I'm kicking off the new year with a highly requested block print. For years now, I've
had a sketch of an Eastern Box Turtle in the planning phase, but I haven't had a chance to carve it. This January things have slowed down enough for me to work on this project, and I'm happy to report the print is dried and ready for pre-order today! Scroll down for more details. I've also got some events coming up, a new bookmark design, and some 2023 goals to share with you. Read on to find out more! Best, Katie Katie Hayes Printmaker New South Pattern House

Here are some of my goals for 2023: Printmaking: I'll be continuing my focus on pollinators this year, and you can also expect me to showcase some of our native predators, as I'm becoming fascinated the
roles they play in our eco-systems. Business: I was super proud last year to be able to
create a job in my local community. Dhara, (our 2022 Events Intern) has agreed to join the team again this year, and I hope to grow my skills as a mentor and manager, and make NSPH a great place to work. I'm also looking to deepen my commitment to sustainability in 2023, and hope to have more to announce on this front soon! Product Development: I had so much fun last year bringing my Eco-Gift Wrap to life, and I saw huge interest in my wallpapers. I'm dreaming of what small batch products I could develop this year. Want to give me your
input? Take this survey here. Here's a video of me pulling my new Eastern Box Turtle Print. For my carving substrate I used an Eco Karve printmaking block (made from 100% recycled materials.) For the inks, I used Speedball's line of professional oil based inks, which are made in Statesville, NC. This video is sped up-- it's not this fast in real life! I hope you love seeing my process. By supporting small businesses, you make an incredible difference in the lives of real folks. Here's me with my crew on New Year's Eve, (dressed up fancy and almost all looking at
the camera :)! Thank you for supporting my work, and my family! -Katie |
